Our school has some chefs in the making! 🧑‍🍳 Miss Gaudiosi’s Year 9 Food Tech class has been cooking up a storm, producing these delicious dishes! As a part of their practical task, students were required to make a dish addressing nutritional need. We can confirm that these dishes didn’t last long - amazing work Year 9 👏

As the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo Decision approaches, we commemorate how far we have come on our nation’s journey to reconciliation, while acknowledging that we all play a part in continuing this journey. The Emmaus Community will continue to play an active role in furthering the journey to reconciliation, as we teach our students the significance of building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, values, cultures and futures. As the theme of National Reconciliation Week preaches, it is ‘Now More Than Ever’ that we need reconciliation. Our school community is committed to supporting this journey to reconciliation. Last week our Year 9 and 10 Challenge Class students attended the Sydney Writers' Festival. 🖋️ Students learned the craft of writing from incredible authors, who emphasised that to be a writer you need to be a reader. 📖 Students got to meet, and have their books signed by the authors who presented at the event; Jack Heath, Elizabeth Acevedo, Graham Akhurst and C.S Pacat. 🌟 EMMAUS ALUMI 🌟 Congratulations to Emmaus graduate, Natasha Tatarinoff, who won the Rising Star Award at the Australian Club Entertainment Awards (ACE) 👏 At the event, Natasha had the opportunity to speak with industry professionals and even performed alongside Nathan Foley, Susannah Mirana and Joel Crouch. Natasha said that she "had a wonderful experience. The event was amazing with pyrotechnics, fire dancers and many performers. I am overjoyed to have won in my category and it was wonderful to have my family with me to experience the exciting moment." We look forward to cheering on Natasha as she reaches for the stars! 💫

Check out what Year 7 is up to in Mr Petrocco’s History class! 📚 Students are learning about Ancient Egyptian Pyramids so they had a go at building a structurally sound ‘pyramid’ with 10 marshmallows and toothpicks. This enabled the students to mirror the thinking process of the Ancient Egyptians. Keep up the great work Year 7! 👏

Parliament House had some special guests last week - Year 11 students Max M, Amelia K, Gardinia G, Eirene S and Noah M. 🙌 Mrs Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Badgerys Creek, held her Badgerys Creek Senior School Leadership Forum, providing insight into community advocacy and leadership. Students also embarked on a tour of the NSW Parliament House, which is the oldest Parliament in Australia! Thank you, Mrs Tanya Davies MP, for welcoming our students and enlightening them about leadership! 😊
